Colin grew up in Southern Maryland and Alabama, where he developed a love for the outdoors. That love deepened during Air Force Survival School in northern Washington, where he experienced both the beauty and harshness of the wilderness. He carried this passion through his Air Force career and, after leaving the military, took extended motorcycle trips through the Rockies, including one with his father.

He has long expressed his creativity through art, designing and painting logos for military units and documenting expeditions through photography and video, though neither captured the full feeling of being there. Discovering plein air painting changed that, and he began creating work on each trip to develop later in the studio.

Colin continues to travel and share his experiences through painting from his home near Travelers Rest, South Carolina, where he lives with his wife and school-aged son.
